Explorers

Phoenix Explorer Scout Unit Churchdown

Phoenix Explorer Scout Unit are a group of fourteen to eighteen-year-olds who like challenges, adventure, making friends and learning new skills. We meet on most Monday nights, do a variety of weekends away and longer expeditions in the summer. The purpose of Scouting is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. This is something that our Unit strives to achieve through an active and enjoyable programme of activities.

After Explorers?

When you get to age 18 you will have finished as a Scouting youth member – at this point, many Explorers decide they would like to give something back to scouting. To this end, they then become “Young Leaders” where they help with one of the younger sections and learn to become adult leaders.

Others decide to be active in the 18 to 25 section “Network”, all Explorers are automatically registered into that section and can still be active even if they go to university. Network is run now by District ( it used to be run by County)

When and Where?

Churchdown Explorers meet on Mondays between 8.00pm and 9.30pm at our own headquarters Brown Lodge Church Road in Churchdown village.
